The Draft Regional Transit Service & Fare Study, developed by Jacobs Engineering in collaboration with Collier MPO, Collier Area Transit, and Lee County Transit, evaluated existing travel patterns identifying areas that would benefit most from additional regional transit service. One source of information was the Collier MPO Origin-Destination Report.
Based on the results of regional travel patterns, market analysis and public outreach, the study recommends the University of Florida/Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and Lehigh Acres route for a new connection between CAT and LeeTran, operated by CAT.
The study is still in draft form and will go through the MPO Board and Advisory Committees process: CAT’S Public Transit Advisory Committee on March 20, MPO’s Technical Advisory and Citizens Advisory Committees on March 25, MPO Board on April 12, and finally as a consent item for acceptance by the Collier County Board of County Commissioners in May 2024.
